Australian Prints, Posters and Illustrated Books
The National Gallery of Australia has the premier
collection of prints posters and illustrated books by Australian artists. It also collects
the works of artists in near neighbouring countries such as New Zealand, New Guinea and
Oceanic nations. At present the collection numbers some 25,000 works. All are searchable
through our text database.
In the last 18 months we have been working on digitalizing the collection, presently
some 7,500 images are available on the web. The site also contains information on the
history of the collection, and its collecting parameters, recent acquisitions and other
news. A bibliography relating to Australian prints (some 5,000 entries) will be online
within a few weeks.
